Montava una nuova versione del classico motore monoalbero di 982cc. La testa radiale fu interamente progettata e costruita dall’Abarth, le valvole erano a V e disposte su assi perpendicolari. La camera a scoppio era formata da due calotte semisferiche, delle quali la minore ospitava la valvola d’aspirazione e la maggiore quella di scarico. Esteticamente vennero mantenute le linee sobrie ed equilibrate, disegnate da Dante Giacosa, che riuscì ad ottenere un aspetto elegante e sportivo. Venne aggiunta la fascia rossa sul muso e i fregi e marchi dell’Abarth. Particolarmente curati gli interni con finiture in legno sul cruscotto, quadro strumenti di tipo racing a due tondi di grosso diametro che richiamava quello delle Ferrari anni cinquanta e poltrone di tipo sportivo. Il magnifico esemplare da noi proposto in asta è una delle poche Abarth 1000 OT in perfetto stato ancora in circolazione. L’auto è stata restaurata in maniera maniacale in ogni suo aspetto. Il restauro è durato circa due anni ed è terminato circa 2 mesi fa, ed ha riguardato tutta la carrozzeria che è stata sverniciata controllata e riverniciata del suo rosso originale, le sospensioni sono state tutte restaurate in ogni aspetto ed in ogni ordine (gommini, aste, ammortizzatori, freni, braccetti ,ecc..)il motore è stato smontato integralmente, controllato ripulito e riassemblato come in origine (e gira come un orologio). Ad oggi ha percorso solamente 400 Km da quando è stata restaurata. L’auto è dotata di tutta la sua documentazione originale ed è iscritta presso il registro storico dell’ASI. L’auto verrà battuta in asta alla kermesse di Milano AutoClassica 2021 in condizione straordinarie. In 1964 a new super sports car from Abarth came onto the market, the 1000 OT (Omologata Turismo), derived from the Fiat 850 coupé. It featured a new version of the classic 982cc single-shaft engine. The radial head was entirely designed and built by Abarth, the valves were V-shaped and arranged on perpendicular axes. The combustion chamber was formed by two hemispherical caps, the smaller of which housed the intake valve and the larger the exhaust valve. Aesthetically, the sober and balanced lines were maintained, designed by Dante Giacosa, who managed to achieve an elegant and sporty appearance. The red band on the front of the car was added as well as the Abarth badges and logos. Particular attention was paid to the interior, with wood trim on the dashboard, a racing-type instrument panel with two large-diameter roundels that recalled that of the Ferrari cars of the 1950s and sports-type seats. The wonderful example we are offering at auction is one of the few Abarth 1000 OTs still in perfect condition. The car has been meticulously restored in every aspect. The restoration lasted about two years and ended about 2 months ago, and has covered the entire body that has been stripped of paint controlled and repainted in its original red, the suspension has been restored in every aspect and in every order (rubber, rods, shock absorbers, brakes, arms, etc. ...) The engine was disassembled in its entirety, checked, cleaned and reassembled as originally (and works perfectly). To date it has travelled only 400 km since it was restored. The car is equipped with all its original documentation and is registered with the ASI historic register. The car will be auctioned at Milano AutoClassica 2021 in extraordinary condition.
